Supervisor Tools
As far as CMS is concerned, the person who is designated "supervisor", usually the Safety Officer of a company, is God! He or she is the only person who can configure the system to define the facilities (site locations) and setup persons to use the system. How many facilities and users that can be configured is determined by the license that has been purchased from Sypol Limited. With regard to users, the license will stipulate how many can be editors the remainder being read-only users.

Setting up Users

When CMS is first activated the number of users as determined by the license will all be set automatically to "read only". Using a 5 user license by way of example, (2 editors, 3 read-only users) we find the following arrangement when the system is first initialised.

The supervisor can now set up users according to the dictates of the license. In our example, five users can be created, two editors and three read-only. However, although the supervisor may be "God" as far as CMS is concerned, nonetheless even God will need to set himself or herself up as a user (usually an editor) if her or she wishes to use the system. This means that one of the two editors will have to be assigned to the supervisor thus leaving one editor remaining.
