Behavioural safety

Behavioural safety has been promoted as a means to reduce accidents and injuries from the early 1990's. As as result it has had significant success in organisations that have largely got their safety management systems and physical conditions under control. They will have probably reached a plateau in their safety performance and are looking for something to drive a step-change and further reduce injuries and illnesses.

In our experience however, many organisations that would like to, or have corporate goals to implement behavioural safety are simply not ready for the "traditional" approach. Unlike most behavioural programmes we do not have a "formula" for our implementations, our programmes are bespoke for each organisation and, where a full implementation is not appropriate, we introduce elements that will support and develop a culture for a future behavioural programme.

Tailored programmes

Following an assessment of where your organisation is in terms of safety systems, physical conditions and culture, we will recommend a programme tailored to you. Again, unlike many "traditional" behavioural implementations that concentrate on employee (shop floor) behaviours, in many cases we have found that we need to concentrate initially on the development of management behaviours as a means of demonstrating commitment and, if needed, driving culture change within an organisation.

In summary, we will develop a bespoke programme for your organisation that will drive an overall culture change rather than concentrating on the mythical careless employee!
