Diageo halts production to benefit staff

"Because we have worked with Sypol before, they understood our requirements and responded to our brief with a practical, workable solution to our needs at a cost-effective price." Colm Murphy Health and Safety Manager

Choosing Sypol

Evidence of Diageo’s commitment to health and safety was recently demonstrated when production at its Mallusk plant, just outside Belfast, was shut down for twenty four hours to increase staff awareness of a wide-range of health and safety issues.

The awareness programme was delivered in partnership with Sypol. This collaboration has received widespread acclaim from the company's staff and is the second year in succession that Sypol has provided training on topics including accident reduction, fire, personal safety and advice on avoiding back problems.

Colm Murphy, Diageo Baileys Global Supply's health and safety manager comments:
"Whilst stopping production for a day has implications for supply of the six million cases of Baileys that we distribute around the world every year, we believe in creating positive working conditions to ensure the well-being, occupational health and the safety of all our employees so it is an investment we are prepared to make."
