During 2010 there is a European-wide campaign ‘Risk Assessment in the Use of Hazardous Substances’.
The campaign has been initiated by the Senior Labour Inspectors Committee (SLIC) that seeks to promote consistency in health and safety standards and enforcement across Europe.
The aim of the project is for a simple, practical and effective initiative that:
- promotes risk assessment for hazardous substances;
- focuses on small- and medium-sized enterprises;
- targets sectors not substances;
- raises awareness among employers and workers; and
- assists enforcement inspectors to gain consistency.
In the UK the focus is on risks from hazardous substances in motor vehicle repair.
