About Leadbitter Leadbitter is a leading provider of quality construction services to clients in a variety of markets including affordable housing, student accommodation, education, leisure, health care and industrial. Established over thirty years ago, Leadbitter has a network of regional offices from which it services clients throughout Southern England, the Home Counties and South Wales. Choosing Sypol Sypol has provided health and safety services to Leadbitter for more than five years and was commissioned by Group Technical Services Manager, Kim Shepherd, to undertake a review of the environmental impact of its business. While one of the drivers for this project was to help the company achieve ISO14001 accreditation, it was also to work toward reducing its environmental liabilities and enhancing its performance. Sypol’s work commenced with visits to Leadbitter’s operations in Abingdon, Cardiff, Bristol and Southampton to review its policies, procedures, documentation and systems of work. Sypol also interviewed key members of staff and undertook visits to construction sites in order to assess its environmental controls in practice and to discuss work methods with site managers. The results of this research enabled Sypol to develop a prioritised action plan which is being used to identify which areas the company should focus on. |
